A Southeast Asia energy storage system (ESS) integrator eliminated a combined heat-dissipation and electrical-insulation challenge by adopting Hanast HN-8820A/B as its potting material for energy storage system (ESS). The two-component addition-cure silicone (2.0 W/m·K, 1:1 mix ratio by weight) reduced module temperature rise by 12°C and passed IP67 and UL94 V-0 testing.
The client is an overseas energy storage system integrator serving utilities, industrial parks, and commercial buildings across Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Its containerized battery storage products combine densely packed lithium battery modules with liquid-cooled cold plates, and must operate continuously in ambient temperatures that regularly exceed 35°C. Reliable thermal management and electrical insulation are essential to safety and service life.
Hanast recommended HN-8820A/B, a two-component addition-cure (platinum-catalysed) silicone potting compound with a thermal conductivity of 2.0 ± 0.1 W/m·K and a 1:1 mix ratio by weight. As a UL94 V-0 certified potting compound for high-voltage energy storage, it provides flame-retardant protection, low viscosity (5,000–8,000 mPa·s) for easy pouring and self-levelling, and a cured elastomer that stays flexible across −40 °C to 200 °C.
