Introduction to Silicone Rubber for Cultural Stone Molds

Silicone rubber for cultural stone molds is a liquid silicone used for molding cultural stone. A hardness 30-40 Shore A is generally recommended. It is suitable for use in the production of molds for cultural stone, artificial stone, Roman columns, European-style components, cement, and other products.

Applications of Silicone Rubber for Cultural Stone Molds

Silicone rubber for cultural stone molds is suitable for the molding and replication of large-scale stone, plaster, cement parts, cultural stone, artificial stone, Roman columns, stone carvings, and other furniture, architectural, and decorative products. It can also be used for the replication of decorative items and the creation of silicone molds for various industries, including simulated animal and plant sculptures, resin crafts, plaster craft gifts, polka doll crafts, and Buddhist sculptures. The recommended hardness range is 30-40 Shore A, with the final hardness value determined based on customer product requirements and processes.

Features of Silicone Rubber for Cultural Stone Molds:
  • Strong tear resistance, resistant to high and low temperatures, acids and alkalis, and aging;
  • Good fluidity, easy defoaming, easy demolding, and the finished product does not turn white;
  • High mold-making capacity and long service life;
  • Linear shrinkage rate less than 0.1%;
  • Product color, hardness, viscosity, and working time can be adjusted as needed.
Instructions for Using Silicone Rubber for Cultural Stone Molds:
  1. Mix the silicone rubber and curing agent at a weight ratio of 100:2-2.5 until homogeneous;
  2. Place the homogeneous silicone rubber mixture into a vacuum pump for vacuum treatment. This will make the finished product smoother and free of bubbles; (If a vacuum pump is unavailable, the curing time can be extended to allow the silicone rubber to naturally defoam, but the effect is not ideal).
  3. Spray (or coat) the prepared mold and mold frame with release agent, and place the mold in the center. Slowly and steadily pour the vacuum-sealed silicone into the mold frame until the silicone completely covers the mold, then let it stand to cure.
  4. After the silicone has completely cured, it can be demolded. Remove the silicone mold and perform edge treatment. It is generally recommended to let the silicone mold sit for 24 hours after demolding before using it, which will extend the service life of the silicone mold.

Precautions for using liquid silicone for cultured stone molds:

1. The silicone and hardener must be thoroughly mixed to prevent the silicone from failing to harden.

2. The prepared liquid silicone should be used within the usable timeframe.

3. If the original mold is made of glass, ceramic, or coated with paint, coat the original mold evenly with shampoo solution or soapy water. After the moisture evaporates, pour or brush on the mold silicone. This will facilitate better demolding.
