This case study describes how an electronics manufacturer supplying Southeast Asia used HN-8810A/B thermally conductive silicone potting compound from Shenzhen Hanast New Materials to protect automotive and network electronics against heat, humidity and vibration. Applications included automotive HID lamp module power supplies, ignition-system module power supplies and network transformers.
In a hot and humid tropical climate, unprotected electronics are vulnerable to moisture ingress, corrosion and overheating. The manufacturer needed a potting solution that could:
HN-8810A/B is a two-component addition-cure (platinum) silicone potting compound. It has a 1:1 mix ratio by weight, low viscosity for self-levelling, and cures at room temperature or at 80°C for 10–20 min. The cured elastomer is flame-retardant (UL94 V-0) and keeps rubber elasticity from −40°C to 150°C.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Mix ratio (A:B) | 1:1 by weight |
| Mixed viscosity | 2000–3000 mPa·s |
| Thermal conductivity | 1.0 ± 0.1 W/m·K |
| Volume resistivity | ≥5.0 × 1014 Ω·cm |
| Waterproof / moisture-proof | Yes |
| Flame retardant | UL94 V-0 |
| Operating temperature | −50°C to 200°C |
This addition-cure (platinum) silicone may fail to cure in contact with organotin and tin-containing silicone rubbers; sulphur, polysulphide compounds or sulphur-containing articles; amines, polyurethane rubber or ammonia-containing items; phosphorus-containing items; acidic items (organic acids); and solder-flux residues. Substrates, tools and containers must be clean and free of these contaminants.
For electronics producers targeting Southeast Asia, HN-8810A/B offers reliable protection against heat and humidity with easy 1:1 processing. Shenzhen Hanast New Materials supports partners with samples, application guidance and technical data.
