Cured silicone gel is chemically inert and not considered hazardous waste. It does not biodegrade, but it also does not leach harmful substances into the soil or groundwater. Disposal is similar to that of standard plastics, allowing specialized companies to landfill or physically recycle it (e.g., as filler). Chemical recycling is currently difficult.
