Concrete has a high pH value of 12-13, which easily corrodes ordinary mold materials. Alkali-resistant RTV2 liquid silica gel remains intact even after hundreds of concrete pours and is specially formulated for cultured stone factories.

Wet concrete has a pH value as high as 12–13, and this highly alkaline environment can corrode many mold materials. For cultured stone factories that use concrete as the primary pouring material, the alkali resistance of RTV2 liquid silica gel is not an optional feature, but a mandatory requirement.

Problems with ordinary silicone sealant:

General-purpose RTV2 silicone sealant may develop a whitening effect after 50–100 concrete pours. Alkaline cement slurry erodes the silicone sealant surface, leading to:

  • Rough surface, loss of detail
  • Difficulty sticking to the mold and demolding
  • Color transfer onto the poured stone
  • Shortened mold life

Mechanism of action: The alkali-resistant additives in our silicone sealant form a protective barrier at the molecular level, preventing hydroxide ions from concrete from penetrating into the silicone polymer network, thereby protecting the silicone sealant's elasticity, surface smoothness, and demolding performance from degradation during long-term production.
