Reasons for air bubbles in silicone molds for artificial cultured stone:
  1. Filler moisture content exceeds normal levels. When the moisture content of the filler particles is high, tiny water bubbles form around them. Since resin curing is an exothermic process, the released heat disrupts the balance of these water bubbles, leaving them trapped within the artificial stone matrix. This results in air bubbles on the surface after curing.
  2. Air enters the silicone mold during the mixing process.
  3. Improper ratio of resin, curing agent, and initiator prevents air bubbles remaining in the matrix from being expelled in time.
Methods to solve the problem of air bubbles on the surface of silicone molds for artificial cultured stone:
  1. Vibration Defoaming Method: When using this method, attention should be paid to the amplitude, frequency, and vibration time of the platform. Excessive amplitude will cause filler to deposit on the surface of the mold, resulting in one side being resin-deficient, curing slowly, shrinking little, and having a low exothermic temperature, while the other side, due to high resin content, cures quickly, shrinks slowly, and has a high exothermic temperature, making it prone to warping.
  2. Vacuum Method: Using negative pressure during stirring to keep the artificial stone matrix boiling facilitates chemical reactions and easily removes air bubbles generated during stirring.
