Mold Silicone Demolding Difficulties: Solutions

Mold silicone accounts for a large proportion of the mold industry, successfully replacing some mold materials such as plaster molds, fiberglass, and plastic. Currently, there are two types of mold silicone on the market: one for industrial molds and one for food-grade molds. Both types of mold silicone can potentially experience demolding difficulties. When silicone molds experience demolding difficulties, it affects production efficiency, which is the last thing any manufacturer wants.

When liquid silicone molds experience demolding difficulties, simply blaming the mold is useless; the solution should be carefully considered.

Methods for Dealing with Difficult Demolding
  1. Surface treatment of the mold:
    Before making silicone mold products, the surface of the mold should be treated (e.g., applying dish soap, which must be wiped evenly with a cotton cloth). If food-grade resin molds are used and sticking occurs, the mold needs to be soaked in a solution of dish soap and water.
  2. Mold Release Agent Treatment:
    If you are concerned about sticking to the mold, spray mold release agent on the product before casting.
Friendly Reminder:

Each customer's situation regarding difficult demolding is different, so we need to analyze the customer's operation to determine why sticking occurs. Use detergent water for soaking and mold release agent in moderation. If the mold has been soaked in detergent water, allow it to air dry before proceeding. Apply mold release agent sparingly.
