A Southeast Asia EV charging infrastructure maker protected its outdoor charging modules with Hanast HN-8830A/B, a high-performance silicone potting compound for EV battery pack and power-electronics applications. The 3.0 W/m·K, UL94 V-0 material (1:1 mix ratio by weight) reduced field returns by 40% and passed damp-heat and salt-spray testing.
The client designs and manufactures AC and DC EV charging modules deployed across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Many units are installed outdoors near coastlines and busy highways, where internal power electronics face extreme heat, monsoon humidity, salt spray, dust, and constant vibration. As EV adoption accelerates across the region, charging uptime and safety have become critical.
Hanast supplied HN-8830A/B, a two-component addition-cure (platinum-catalysed) silicone potting compound designed for high-power electronics. It offers a high thermal conductivity of 3.0 ± 0.1 W/m·K, a 1:1 mix ratio by weight, good fluidity and self-levelling, and UL 94 V-0 flame retardancy. The cured elastomer stays rubber-elastic from −40 °C to 200 °C, absorbing thermal expansion and vibration while sealing out moisture, salt, and contaminants.

The same product family serves the wider EV and automotive electronics ecosystem. It is used as:
These applications help balance cell temperatures, improve pack safety, and protect control boards against heat, vibration, and contamination in vehicles operating in harsh tropical conditions.
“The UL 94 V-0 compound sealed our modules against everything the tropics throw at them. Reliability improved noticeably and we now use it as standard,” said the client’s product manager.
