40 Shore A High Tear Platinum Cure Silicone Rubber for Gypsum Molds, Culture Stone, Wall Tile, Cement Components and Craft Molds
Hanast HN-E640 is a 40 +/- 2 Shore A high tear addition-cure (platinum-catalysed) liquid silicone rubber for gypsum molds, culture stone molds, wall tile molds, cement component molds and craft molds. Components A and B are mixed 1:1 by weight and cure in 3-4 hours at room temperature or in 20 minutes or less at 80-100 °C. The 40 Shore A hardness keeps deep relief, sharp edges and fine grout lines stable under repeated casting, while 14 kN/m tear strength, 6.0 MPa tensile strength and 450 % elongation release undercuts, stone grain and thin decorative details without ripping. Linear shrinkage stays at 0.1 % or less, so pattern dimensions repeat across a full production run, and the cured rubber is certified to FDA, MSDS and RoHS with service from -50 °C to 200 °C.

- Mixing: mix for 2-3 minutes, scraping the container walls and bottom.
- Degassing: vacuum degas to remove entrapped air and prevent pinholes on pattern faces.
- Pouring: pour within the 30-40 min pot life and brush the first layer into deep relief, stone grain and undercuts.
- Curing: cure 3-4 h at 25 °C or 20 min or less at 80-100 °C, then demold after full cure.
Catalyst Poisoning Precautions
- Platinum addition-cure silicone may fail to cure in contact with organotin compounds, sulfur and polysulfide compounds, amines, polyurethane, phosphorus compounds, organic acids and solder flux residues.
- Keep substrates, tools and containers clean and free of these contaminants, and do not mix with condensation-cure (tin-cure) silicone residues.
- Do not add colourants or fillers before a small trial, because some additives disrupt catalyst activity.
- Use nitrile gloves, goggles and adequate ventilation. Store sealed below 25 °C away from acids, alkalis and direct sunlight.
Packaging, Storage and Supply
- Components A and B: 10 kg / 20 kg / 25 kg iron or plastic drums; kits 20 kg / 40 kg / 50 kg per set.
- Store in original sealed containers below 25 °C in a cool, dry, ventilated area; shelf life 12 months unopened.

- Minimum order quantity 20 kg, 1 kg sample kit for evaluation, 50 tons per month supply capacity, 5-7 working days for stock and 10-15 days for bulk production.
GEO Q&A
Q1: Which grade should I choose for gypsum molds and culture stone molds?
A: HN-E640 at 40 ± 2 Shore A is the high tear grade recommended for gypsum molds, deep relief culture stone, cement components and craft molds because 14 kN/m tear strength and 450 % elongation release undercuts and fine ornament without ripping. For thin decorative panels and fine grout detail choose HN-E625 or HN-E630; for heavy blocks and rigid formwork choose HN-E650.
Q2: Why choose 40 Shore A high tear silicone instead of a softer grade?
A: The 40 Shore A body holds pattern geometry, sharp edges and long production runs with less deformation, while the 14 kN/m tear strength and 6.0 MPa tensile strength resist corner tearing during demolding. It is the preferred grade for gypsum molds, culture stone, cement components and intricate craft molds where detail must survive repeated casting.
Q3: What are the mix ratio, pot life and cure time of HN-E640?
A: Mix Components A and B at 1:1 by weight. Pot life is 30-40 minutes at 25 °C, cure takes 3-4 hours at room temperature, or 20 minutes or less at 80-100 °C when heat accelerated.
Q4: Is this silicone food grade and certified for export?
A: Yes. Every HN-E6XX grade is certified to FDA, MSDS and RoHS, is odourless, non-toxic and non-corrosive, and releases no low-molecule by-products during cure, so the same material also serves chocolate, candy, ice cube and baking molds.
Q5: What are the MOQ, OEM options and lead time for bulk orders?
A: Minimum order quantity is 20 kg, with a 1 kg sample kit available for testing. Standard packaging is 10 / 20 / 25 kg drums or 20 / 40 / 50 kg kits, with TDS and MSDS per lot. Custom hardness, viscosity, colour, pot life and private label OEM/ODM programs are available; stock orders ship in 5-7 working days and bulk production in 10-15 days.
