CTE Matched 1:1 Silicone Potting Compound HN-8806A/B for Rail Transit, Wind Power and Marine Power Electronics
HN-8806A/B is a two-component platinum addition-cure silicone potting compound mixed at 1:1 by weight from a white and a grey 2000-3000 mPa·s liquid. It cures at room temperature in 2-3 hours or in 12 minutes at 80 C into a 45 ± 5 Shore A elastomer with a coefficient of thermal expansion of 210 µm/(m·C), 0.76 W/m·K thermal conductivity, 1.0 × 1016 Ω·cm volume resistivity, 25-30 kV/mm dielectric strength and UL 94 V-0 flame retardancy over −50 C to 250 C. Because the cured compound expands and contracts close to aluminium and steel housings and releases no heat or by-products, thick castings for rail, wind and marine power electronics cure without internal stress, cracking or corrosion of sealed parts.

Cure Inhibition Notice
This addition-cure silicone may fail to cure in contact with organotin or tin-containing silicones, sulfur and polysulfide compounds, amine or ammonia-containing items, polyurethane rubber, phosphorus compounds, organic acids and solder flux residues. Clean substrates and tools before potting and do not mix with condensation-cure (acetoxy) silicone, epoxy or polyurethane.

FAQ
Q1: Why does the coefficient of thermal expansion matter for silicone potting?
A: HN-8806A/B cures with a CTE of 210 µm/(m·C), close to aluminium and steel enclosures. Matching expansion keeps differential movement low, so solder joints, busbars and heavy castings stay crack-free through power cycling and thermal shock.
Q2: Is it suitable for rail transit and wind power converters?
A: Yes. The −50 C to 250 C range, 25-30 kV/mm dielectric strength, UL 94 V-0 rating and low-stress deep-section cure suit traction converter stacks, auxiliary power units, wind turbine converters and nacelle control boards.
Q3: How does it perform in marine and salt-laden air environments?
A: The neutral addition-cure compound releases no by-products or corrosive agents and is moisture and humidity resistant, so sealed terminals, relays and metallised parts in offshore, coastal and outdoor cabinets are protected without corrosion.
Q4: What mix ratio, pot life and cure schedule apply?
A: Mix Component A and B at 1:1 by weight. Pot life is 18-24 min at 25 C; cure is 12 min at 80 C or 2-3 hours preliminary at 25 C. Deep sections cure without exotherm or shrinkage stress.
Q5: What are the packaging, shelf life and delivery terms?
A: Each component is supplied in a 25 kg plastic barrel, 50 kg per A+B set, from 50 tons per month capacity. Shelf life is 6 months sealed at 25 C, stock ships in 3-7 working days and bulk orders in 10-15 days.
