A fast-growing new energy vehicle (NEV) battery pack manufacturer based in Southeast Asia partnered with us to solve one of the toughest challenges in electric mobility: protecting lithium-ion battery modules against heat, moisture, vibration, and short circuits in hot, humid tropical climates.
The manufacturer supplies battery packs to electric two-wheeler and light EV brands across Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Its modules combine high-energy-density cylindrical cells, a battery management system (BMS), and structural housings — all of which must survive years of tropical heat, monsoon humidity, dust, and constant vibration from uneven roads. As order volumes grew, the client needed a potting solution that was both technically robust and efficient to apply at scale.
We recommended a two-part, low-viscosity, addition-cure silicone potting compound engineered specifically for EV battery modules and BMS protection. Unlike rigid epoxy, the silicone stays flexible after curing, absorbing thermal expansion and mechanical stress while delivering dependable dielectric insulation.
| Property | Specification | Customer Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Thermal conductivity | 1.5 W/m·K | Efficient heat dissipation from cells |
| Hardness (Shore A) | 25–35 | Stress relief for delicate components |
| Dielectric strength | >20 kV/mm | Reliable electrical insulation |
| Operating range | -50°C to 200°C | Stable in tropical conditions |
| Flame rating | UL94 V-0 | Improved fire safety |
| Cure | Room temperature / heat accelerated | Flexible, fast production |
As EV adoption accelerates across Southeast Asia, battery safety and durability have become decisive competitive factors. Regulators and consumers increasingly expect battery packs that resist heat, water, and impact. Our silicone potting compound helps manufacturers meet these international safety expectations while keeping production efficient and cost-effective, positioning them to win contracts with global OEMs and fleet operators.
“The flexible silicone solved cracking problems we had with epoxy, and the automated dispensing cut our cycle time significantly. We now use it as our standard battery potting material," said the client’s production manager.
